  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Facing 4-to-6-week timeline

Rockies manager Bud Black recently said that Beck is expected to require 4-to-6 weeks of recovery time after undergoing surgery May 29 to insert a plate into his broken left hand, MLB.com reports.

Beck sustained the injury when he made a diving grab in the outfield in a May 25 game against the Phillies. The rookie has yet to resume baseball activities, though he could be cleared to do so in the next week or two if the shorter end of his recovery timeline proves to be accurate. Beck will eventually require a minor-league rehab assignment before he's reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Slated to undergo surgery

Beck is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left hand Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Beck suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand Saturday, and he will need to go under the knife to repair the fracture. A return timetable has not been offered up by the team, but Beck is expected to miss extended time as a result of the injury. While his big-league career hasn't gotten off to a great start, Beck has positioned himself among the team's top prospects with his performance at the upper levels of the minors. He should get another long look when healthy.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Lands on IL with fractured hand

The Rockies placed Beck (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Beck sustained the injury while making a diving catch in the outfield in the first inning of Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Phillies. He could be in store for a lengthy absence, regardless of whether or not surgery is required. Beck was slashing .173/.182/.307 with two home runs and eight RBI while striking out 29 times across 89 plate appearances since he received his first call to the big leagues April 30. Colorado recalled Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Beck's spot on the 26-man active roster.

  • Rockies' Jordan Beck: Diagnosed with fractured hand

Beck has been diagnosed with a fractured left hand, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Beck made a terrific diving catch in left field to rob Nick Castellanos of a hit in the first inning of Saturday's loss to the Phillies, but he suffered a significant injury on the play. It's not clear at this point whether he will need surgery or how long he might be sidelined, but certainly Beck is headed to the injured list. Beck has slashed just .190/.198/.316 with a 30:1 K:BB in his first 23 games with the Rockies.
