The Phillies placed Realmuto on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right knee pain, and he's scheduled to undergo a meniscectomy Wednesday. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Realmuto has been playing through the injury for nearly a month, and the Phillies elected to address the injury now rather than attempting to wait things out. Gelb also reports that Realmuto will miss roughly a month, potentially setting him up for a mid-July return from the shelf. Rafael Marchan was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move and should serve as the backup catcher to Garrett Stubbs.... See More ... See Less

Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Day off Wednesday
Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Brewers. The Phillies and Brewers are playing a day game Wednesday after Realmuto caught all 10 innings of a 2-1 win Tuesday, so he appears to be getting some rest in the series finale. Garrett Stubbs will start behind the dish for the Phillies on Wednesday as they go for the sweep of Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Receiving breather Sunday
Realmuto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Realmuto started the first two games of the series and will receive Sunday off after going 0-for-8 with four strikeouts and a run scored. Garrett Stubbs will step in behind the plate and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Getting afternoon off
Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants. Realmuto will get a breather for the afternoon game after he started behind the plate each of the previous three days while going 3-for-13 with eight strikeouts. He recorded exactly one hit in each of those contests to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. Unless he's deployed off the bench Wednesday, Realmuto will look to extend the streak to 18 when he likely returns to the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Cardinals.... See More ... Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Sitting down Saturday
Realmuto isn't in the Phillies' lineup Saturday against the Rockies. After going 2-for-5 in a loss during Friday's series opener, Realmuto will get a breather against Dakota Hudson and the Rockies. Garrett Stubbs will fill in behind the plate and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Another multi-hit game
Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Rangers. Realmuto has generated a hit in 12 consecutive games and has reached via hit multiple times in six of those contests. However, Wednesday's solo homer off Dane Dunning was his first of that stretch and his three RBI were his most since April. Realmuto is batting .377 with three doubles and 11 runs scored during his hit streak.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Makes return to lineup
Realmuto (knee) will start at catcher and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Mets. Realmuto will re-enter the starting nine after sitting out each of the past three games while managing a sore right knee. Provided he doesn't experience any setbacks in his return to action, Realmuto should resume handling one of the heftier workloads in the league among No. 1 catchers, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Phillies gave him a breather later this week or had him serve as a designated hitter for a game.... Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Expected back Wednesday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that he expects Realmuto (knee) to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Realmuto missed a third straight start Tuesday because of right knee soreness. However, he got in a productive workout pregame, and as long as he doesn't have any sort of setback, it appears he'll be back in there for Wednesday's tilt in Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Works out pregame Tuesday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Realmuto (knee) did some work on the field and in the batting cage pregame Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Thomson noted that Realmuto's right knee is feeling better, but the skipper was not ready to commit to the catcher returning to the lineup Wednesday. Realmuto is missing a third straight start Tuesday. Garrett Stubbs has been filling in behind the plate for the Phils.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Held out again Tuesday
Realmuto (knee) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Mets. It will be the third straight start Realmuto has missed as he deals with right knee soreness. There doesn't seem to be concern yet about a potential injured-list stint for Realmuto, but the possibility certainly increases the more time he misses. Garrett Stubbs will again handle the catching duties for the Phillies on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Out Monday with knee injury
Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Realmuto will be on the bench for a second straight game with what the Phillies are characterizing as right knee soreness. The veteran backstop said he first picked up the injury while legging out a triple in the Phillies' May 4 game against the Giants, and his knee hasn't improved in the week since. Neither Realmuto nor the Phillies are concerned yet about him requiring a stint on the injured list, though that could be a stronger possibility if he's not able to return to the lineup within the next couple of days. Garrett Stubbs will fill in for Realmuto behind the plate Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Taking seat Tuesday
Realmuto is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays. It's a rare day off for Realmuto, who has reached base eight times over the last three games. Garrett Stubbs will get a start behind the plate for the Phillies.... See More ... See Less -

Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Giants. Realmuto slid into the No. 2 spot in the order with Trea Turner (hamstring) recently being placed on the injured list. He singled in the third and came home on Bryce Harper's three-run homer and would wind up notching two more base hits before his night was over. Sunday was the first three-hit effort of the season for Realmuto and his seventh multi-hit game. For the year, he's now slashing .259/.315/.431 with five homers, 14 RBI, 18 runs and a 9:34 BB:K in 127 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -

Even with the Phillies and Cardinals playing a day game after a night game, he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Dealing with bruised neck
Realmuto (neck) will be evaluated again Wednesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Realmuto is dealing with a bruised neck after taking a Zack Wheeler slider off of his neck in the seventh inning Tuesday, putting his availability in doubt for the immediate future. The catcher's status will receive another update Wednesday after he undergoes additional testing, and if he's forced to miss any time, Garrett Stubbs will likely operate as the team's primary catcher....
