Jurickson Profar was a solid offensive piece for the Padres in 2022 with a 111 wRC+ in 152 contests, but he scuffled to a .242/.321/.368 slash line between the Rockies and Padres last season. He then re-signed with San Diego on a one-year deal for 2024, and the offseason departures of Juan Soto and Trent Grisham leave plenty of playing time in the outfield. Profar has a limited ceiling given his career .705 OPS and below-average power and speed, but he could be a volume contributor in deeper fantasy leagues. That's assuming, however, he can maintain a regular spot in the lineup.

  • Padres' Jurickson Profar: Back in San Diego lineup

Profar (knee) will start in left field and bat third in Friday's game versus the Mets. Profar exited Tuesday and sat out Wednesday due to left patellar tendinitis, which is something he's evidently dealt with off and on for years. However, he worked out pregame Friday following Thursday's team off day and is feeling well enough to give it a go.

  • Padres' Jurickson Profar: Taking seat due to sore knee

Profar (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics. Profar started in each of the Padres' first 71 games of the season, but he'll hit the bench for the first time after he was forced out of Tuesday's 4-3 win in the eighth inning due to a sore left knee. Manager Mike Shildt disclosed after the contest that Profar has been battling patellar tendinitis in the knee for years, but the 31-year-old aggravated the injury on a swing during his eighth-inning at-bat. Though Shildt downplayed the knee issue, the skipper admitted that he was unsure if Profar -- who leads the National League with a .424 on-base percentage -- would require imaging on the knee, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Jose Azocar will cover left field Wednesday in place of Profar, whose status will presumably be updated following Thursday's team off day.

  • Padres' Jurickson Profar: Dealing with sore knee

Manager Mike Shildt said after Tuesday's game versus Oakland that Profar was removed due to left knee soreness, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Profar's left leg gave out on him after he swung and missed at a pitch in the seventh inning, but it appears he escaped the incident without any significant damage. Shildt also noted that Profar has been dealing with problems in his knee for a while and is being viewed as day-to-day going forward. Should the 31-year-old outfielder have to sit out a game or two, David Peralta would likely be the next man up to serve as San Diego's left fielder.

  • Padres' Jurickson Profar: Exits with leg injury

Profar was removed from Tuesday's game against Oakland after suffering an apparent leg injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Profar's left leg buckled after he took a swing at a pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning. He was immediately taken out of the game by trainers and will presumably undergo testing in the clubhouse. More information on his status should be available after the game.

  • Padres' Jurickson Profar: Clubs homer Monday

Profar went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies. The 31-year-old is slashing .320/.402/.517 with seven long balls, 29 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 44 contests. Profar's best season in the majors was the abbreviated 2020 campaign, and he hit just nine homers with 46 RBI over 125 games last year -- he'll likely post stronger marks in 2024, but his current pace will be tough to sustain.

Profar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Cubs. However, the Cubs scored a run apiece in the eighth and ninth to erase Profar's long ball and steal the win. At the age of 31, Profar is enjoying a breakout season, boasting a .958 OPS and a 179 WRC+ through 150 plate appearances.

Profar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Reds. The long ball extended Profar's hitting streak to six games, and he's batted .364 (8-for-22) with a pair of homers, four RBI and six runs during that stretch.
